What is the Voice from the heart Alliance?
The Voice from the Heart Alliance (VfthA) is a coalition of networks, organisations, and individuals supporting the enshrined Indigenous VOICE to Parliament. It is part of the national campaign, working to amplify the key messages of the Uluru Statement from the Heart across the nation, with action at all levels.
Why the VfthA was formed?
As the number of organisations across the country committed to the Uluru Statement from the Heart has grown it has become evident that people power can be strengthened by connecting networks. A group of Sydney networks held a first meeting in September 2021.
In the months leading up to the Federal election on the 21 May 2022 members’ efforts were focussed on contact with MP’s for their positions on a constitutionally enshrined Indigenous Voice to Parliament.
We now have PM Anthony Albanese and a new Minister for Indigenous Australians, Linda Burney, with Senator the Hon Malarndirri McCarthy Assistant Minister for Indigenous Australians and Assistant Minister for Indigenous Health and Senator Patrick Dodson as Special Envoy for Reconciliation and the Implementation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart. How can I get involved? Towards a successful Referendum
The Voice from the Heart Alliance is focussed on implementing strategic actions in three areas: growing National Networks; connecting with Parliamentarians; and conducting local public awareness campaigns. VfthA welcomes new groups or individuals to amplify our advocacy work, to support and learn from each other as we engage in respectful conversations with the ‘undecided’ in our own local communities.
The VfthA meets monthly on Zoom and via email communications at other times.
