Close to the Bone

Close to the Bone is a video made in association with the SA Museum. It tells the tragic story of a 16-year-old shepherd, James Brown, murdered in the Flinders Ranges in 1852. He was  Mike Brown’s great-great-uncle, one of three Brown brothers, who drove 3000 sheep from Willunga and settled 85 square miles of virgin country around Quorn in South Australia.  It describes how a reprisal party of 17 men pursued a flock of stolen sheep and killed an unknown number of Aboriginal people. Mike Brown, a Member of Initiatives of Change, has worked for many years with Indigenous people based on  conciliation and truth telling.
