This year Macquarie University will be celebrating NAIDOC Week from 4-8 August, and you are invited to join the celebration. This important celebration is a chance for the Macquarie community to come together in recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and achievements.
While the official NAIDOC Week was celebrated across Australia from 6-13 July, this was the University’s session break, which reduced the presence of students and staff on campus. By shifting celebrations to August, there is an opportunity to fully engage the Macquarie community and enable Indigenous students and staff to participate in events within their own communities during the official week.
Throughout the week of NAIDOC@MQ, there will be a rich program of cultural and educational experiences. Each day will highlight different aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, with opportunities for students and staff to engage in meaningful ways – whenever and wherever they can.
